Not all versions of the web driver are bug free and can lead to restarts and black screens on boot. Here are some tips to try and get you going

For nvidia cards you need 3 kexts in your EFI/Clover/Kexts/other folder
Code: Select all
 lilu.kext https://github.com/vit9696/Lilu/releases
NvidiaGraphicsFixUp.kext https://github.com/lvs1974/NvidiaGraphicsFixup/releases
shiki.kext https://github.com/vit9696/Shiki/releases
For shiki set the default hardware decoder via terminal
Code: Select all
defaults write com.apple.AppleGVA forceNV -boolean yes

Remove NVWebDriverLibValFix.kext as NvidiaGraphicsFixUp.kext contains all the fixes it contains.

In your config.plist add the boot argument
Code: Select all
ngfxcompat=1
This disables the OS version check of the web drivers.

Use the nvidia-update script to install the latest WORKING web driver.

Code: Select all
https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/nvidia-update-simple-way-to-install-nvidia-web-drivers.244987/
.

If you are already at a black screen or having reboots, then you need to uninstall them to be able to boot and use these tips. Boot from the USB installer and select Boot macOS from HighSierraAMD. Once the installer loads open terminal and issue the following commands:

Code: Select all
rm -R /Volumes/YOURDRIVE/Library/Extensions/NVDAStartupWeb.kext
touch /Volumes/YOURDRIVE/Library/Extensions/

Once that's done reboot and boot to your desktop.

Does this have to be done booting from the USB or can it be done just normally booted to the desktop?

You would use Whatevergreen.kext and Lilu.kext during the install process, also clicking NVidia Web Drivers in the graphics section. Shiki has been integrated into Lilu. The installation of Nvidia Web Drivers using the nvidia-update tool (best and easiest way to ensure compatibility -- without question btw) would be after you have already installed your drivers.

Remember, there are NO nvidia webdrivers for Mojave, only High Sierra and before - at least for the foreseeable future. I'm unsure how compatible older Nvidia cards are (i.e., before GT/GTX 7xx series) in all recent macOS. For older cards, you could likely inject if there are compatibility issues with webdrivers.
