Did you repair the kext permissions and boot without caches after modifying it?

well I just dropped the file into kext utility and rebooted. how does a man boot without caches? :D

I feel like either kext utility isn't working correctly or I put the device ID in wrong.

You can find the device ID in Windows :thumbup: Try asking on the InsanelyMac site in the VoodooHDA section. I'm not that sure on how it works exactly.

i used the one it showed me in dpci manager on OS X for my headset :shifty:

on Windows would it be in device manager?

Yeah the device for the sound chip will most likely be different than your headset.

You're running 10.10.1? Try updating to 10.10.5. You can follow my El Capitan tutorial but obviously replace the kernel with the Yosemite one and use the correct update. It may work better on a more recent system.
